At Dartmouth, we tackle the tough questions in global health. We examine the social, economic, and political factors that drive health outcomes, and we apply a critical lens to our own global health work. This ensures that we cultivate long-term, equitable relationships with partners in medically underserved communities in the U.S. and worldwide—and that together we advance health and health equity for individuals, families, and communities.
Now, to strengthen and grow this important work, Dartmouth is uniting its global health programs under a single structure, the Center for Health Equity, based at the Geisel School of Medicine.
Check Your Privilege at the Border | Lisa V. Adams, MD, Director of the Center for Health Equity
After 10 years of working in global health, Adams learned firsthand how easy it is for U.S. partners to inadvertently steamroll a global partnership and jeopardize an entire project. Adams explains in this TEDx Talk what’s at risk when partners from wealthy countries collaborate with low-income partners—and explains why equity in partnership is essential to achieving global health equity.
